NOTE: This is a work in progress. As I update this article I will post the changes here.

Slander [slan-der]
noun
1. defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.
2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.

On January 8, 2008 the web site tnr.com[1] posted an article[2] about certain newsletters[nl] that they claimed were written by 2008 Presidential candidate Ron Paul. The article, written by James Kirchick, made some very strong claims that, he says, are racist, homophobic and filled with “conspiracy theories”.

After the article appeared at tnr.com it was quickly picked up by various other web sites. Sites that normally are fighting amongst each other, like littlegreenfootballs.com[3] (Right-wing extremists) and dailykos.com[4] (Left-wing extremists), have banded together to distort the newsletters and smear the Paul campaign. You know a candidate is a major threat when people on opposite ends of the political spectrum are joining together to fight a common foe. These web sites are cheerleaders of the “establishment” and they will fight anyone who encroaches on or threatens their territory, the Paul campaign is a direct threat to their big government meal tickets. Even establishment old media sites such as Fox News and CNN have printed stories on this smear campaign. I have dubbed this smear campaign “littlegreentnrKOSnazis”. This represents the main four campaigns that have banded together; littlegreenfootballs, The New Republic (tnr), dailyKOS (KOS) and neo-nazi leader Bill White (more about White’s involvement later).

Also, there have been some so-called “beltway libertarian” organizations that have jumped onto the smear campaign with littlegreentnrKOSnazis. These pseudo-libertarian orgs are; The CATO Institute[5] and Reason Magazine[6]. They are known as beltway libertarians because they are actually tied to those within the beltway of Washington D.C. and believe that only they have the keys to libertarian thought and only they can bring about change, even though they have been around for decades and have nothing to show for it except continual fund raisers and bigger government. This smear campaign by them, and their partners littlegreentnrKOSnazis, may show that a new organization needs to be formed. Much like the NRA has fallen into the beltway trap, so have these two orgs. Much like the NRA is being replaced by Gun Owners of America, perhaps so too should CATO and Reason be replaced with organizations that are actually wanting to change things without regard to what those in Government desire.

These claims against Paul are nothing more than lies and distortions meant to derail the Ron Paul campaign for President. These slanders are based on quotes from the newsletters that are taken out of context, distorted and misrepresented. Quotes that are borne completely out of a desire to slander Ron Paul with no basis in fact. There are even quotes, that are floating around the internet, that can’t even be found in any of the newsletters that have been found. Also remember that Paul has disavowed these newsletters and he has sworn that he did not write them and was merely the publisher of the columns. These papers will expose these slanders for what they are, fodder for a campaign of misinformation, lies, distortions and political shenanigans. In the end it may be said that this campaign of lies is among the worse in the history of American politics.

I will hold off on editorializing more about the tnr.com web site, their partners in this smear campaign and their probable motives for the article by Kirchick until later, I will also hold off on whether Ron Paul actually did write these newsletters, which may be a moot point once it is proven that the newsletters, while maybe politically incorrect and in some instances insensitive, are not racist, homophobic or any of the other claims being made against them by tnr.com and their partners.

In order to keep this article easy to read I will write this article in several “papers”, each slander with it’s own paper. It will allow me to more fully explore the slander without taking too much space and make it easier to refer back to when people come across a slander pertaining to the newsletters.

Remember. It has never been proven that Ron Paul wrote these newsletters and even Paul’s biggest detractors have admitted that Paul is not a racist himself. I’ll be talking about this more at a later time with its own paper as well.

Within the papers I use the following terminology:
Where I say “writer” I will be referring to whoever wrote the actual newsletter article.
Where I say “slanderer” I will be referring to whoever is making the claim against the writer (and Ron Paul).

The claims of racism;

Paper #1:

“If you have ever been robbed by a black teenaged male, you know how unbelievably fleet of foot they can be.”

Paper #2:

“I miss the closet. Homosexuals, not to speak of the rest of society, were far better off when social pressure forced them to hide their activities.”

Paper #3:

“Ron Paul is a racist.”

Please watch this page as I write more about the slanders against Ron Paul.
